ZEST Treatment
ZEST is an in-practice deep eyelid exfoliation to remove bacterial debris and biofilm from the eyelid margins
Treatment is recommended for anterior blepharitis and Demodex related blepharitis. Dr Dave will confirm the presence of Demodex by taking a sample of biofilm and a couple of eyelashes and assess them under a high-powered microscope. ZEST treatment is effective in removing the Demdex mites, however, medical treatment is also required and Dr. Dave will discuss medical treatment options such as Ivermectin cream (we have to prescribe this medication). Even in the absence of Demodex, patients with debris around the eyelashes (blepharitis) can act as an irritant to the eyes causing inflammation and dry eye. Prices for treatment available here.
